Believe it or not there are only 37 days left until the first event of the season. The first event for 2011 will take place at Autobahn Country Club in Joliet, Il. Still lots of things to get done before the car is ready to go.
For 2011 Vance Motrosports will be competing in the TTS class in the Midwest & Great Lakes Region using the 2004 Mitsubishi Evo 8. Last season was the first full season for the car and alot was learned during the first season for it. The goal now is to continue learning and developing to continually improve.
One exciting bit of information is that VS Motorsports is back for sponsorship this season. They were a great group of guys to be teamed up with last year, and will be even more exciting this year as they plan to participate in NASA this season as well. Thanks Kris and Matt for all of the help and support!!
Earlier this week the car was dropped off at VS Motorsports for some fabrication work and a few other details to get the car ready for the season to begin.
Before delivering the car to VS Motorsports, many hours were spent in the cold garage the past month working on several projects. At the top of the list was a complete transmission rebuild and a new clutch installed. Thanks to ShepTrans for their quick turnaround on the rebuild. A new Exedy HD twin clutch setup was purchased from them as well.
Another big project that was tackled was a new splitter that was made for the car. No pictures will be posted of this yet (don't want to give away all the secrets) but it definately changes the look of the car and should have a big impact on the handling of the car. To balance it out, a larger wing is being added to the rear of the car. One of the fabrication projects that VS Motorsports is working on for me is to create a solid mount for this wing that transfers all of the downforce directly into the chasis of the car. I am excited to see how this turns out.
Stay tuned for further updates over the next couple of weeks as we get closer to the season opener. The plan is to run at least one track day prior to the first event weekend to sort the balance of the car out.
This season should be a very fun one and full of action. With NASA Nationals taking place at Mid Ohio this year it is expected that car counts in the Midwest & Great Lakes regions will be up, especially for all of the Mid Ohio events leading up to Nationals. We plan on making the trip out to Mid Ohio several times this year and if things go as planned we will be running at Nationals!
There is sure to be some tough competition in the local regions this season so plan on a great 2011 with many updates and event reviews!!
