This past weekend was the NASA Blackhawk Farms event for the Evo. The car had just finished having the graphics installed and looked tremendous.
In the first session on Saturday I ran the Kumho tires off of the Eclipse trying to save a few cycles on a almost brand new set of Hoosiers. The first session went well and I ended up running the second fastest lap in the first session. My time was second only to Geoff Sawtelle who was the 2009 TTS National Champion.
For the second session of the day we put the Hoosiers on and were ready to see if the Evo could keep up with Geoff. Things went bad very quickly as we went into corner seven on the first lap. While trying to keep up with Geoff I dove into the corner too fast for brakes and tires that were not fully up to temp. The car got loose at corner exit and shot across the track. Unfortunately there is a tire wall to the inside of the track. I almost saved it, but the car would not stop before it hit the grass and it ended up gently hitting the tire wall. Pictures of the damage are seen above. This was very disheartening after the graphics were just completed a few days ago. My appologies to my sponsor VS Motorsports for this. We will eventually get the car repaired and looking good once again. The damage could have been lots worse given the situation.

Besides that incident to begin the weekend, everything else went OK. Thankfully the damage was cosmetic only and nothing else was damaged. I was able to participate the remainder of the weekend. Both days there were only 3 of us in the class. Myself, Geoff Sawtelle (2009 TTS National Champ) and another Corvette driver that is a friend of Geoff Sawtelle and actually drives a Corvette that Geoff setup and raced some last season.
On Saturday I finished third with a time around 1:17.83 and the second place car was 1:17.696.
So close, but I came up just a bit short. Saturday most of the day was dry with the exception of one session which I decided not to go out on.
On Sunday moorning I decided to put the new Girodisc rotors on and use the first session to bed them in carefully.
In my second session I ran a 1:17.694 which put me in second place behind Geoff who ran something like a 1:15.8 . Shortly after lunch time it started to rain and it just kept raining harder and harder. Unfortunately that put an end to any hopes of getting a dry run the remainder of the day. We were loaded up and gone by about 4:00pm. I was only able to make one good run on Sunday but it held for second place.
I believe there were around 26 cars in TT this weekend and I ended up with the 4th fastest time overall. Not too bad considering the ones that beat me included a National Champion and 2 other Corvettes that both were TTU class cars that had about 125 more horsepower than I do.
